A trial date was set for Oct. 29.

Kiefer Sutherland arrested for DUI

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

kiefer-sutherland-dui.jpgAccording to TMZ, actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested on suspicion of DUI in West Hollywood Monday night after attending a party thrown by Fox at Area nightclub. Sutherland reporedly had a blood alcohol level of .22.

According to CelebTV, Sutherland has four prior DUI arrests, dating back to 1988. His most recent arrest was in 2004. If convicted, Sutherland would have to serve a mandatory five days in jail. However, TMZ is also reporting that Sutherand’s 2004 conviction resulted in a sentence of five years probation. That means that this latest run-in could result in a probation violation, which could result in serious jail time.

Sutherland was pulled over after making an illegal U-turn, which proves my long-standing motto that if you are intoxicated or if you are carrying anything in your car that is illegal, obey the traffic laws.

Sutherland was released on bond and is headed to court on October 16.

Nick Hogan pleads no contest to traffic infraction

nick-hogan.jpg
Although no charges have been filed in connection with the crash that critically injured his friend, Nick Bollea, son of Hulk Hogan, has pleaded no contest in another case.

On August 10th, Nick was ticketed for going nearly double the speed limit in a construction zone. In exchange for the guilty plea, Nick received a $1,000 fine and was order to complete a “driver improvement course.” He was also fined for failing to wear his seatbelt.

This incident took place weeks before the crash which led to his friend’s injuries. The friend still remains hospitalized and Nick may be charged in that case, as it appears that speed also played a role in the crash.

Britney Spears charged with hit and run

Monday, September 24th, 2007

While certainly not the most serious crime, Britney Spears is in trouble with the law. Spears was charged with hit-and-run following a minor car collision in a parking lot. The problem for Spears is that the whole thing was caught of video by a paparazzi and has been airing on the internet. The victim filed a police report, probably after being told that Spears was the one who hit her car. As a result, charges were filed by the city attorney.

The charges, which also include driving without a valid California license, carry a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, but I really doubt that Britney would get more than a fine in this case.

For a video of the “crash,” visit CelebTV. The damage to the car does not look that extensive. In the video, Britney seemed only concerned with the condition of her own car. CelebTV also has an interview with the victim.

Britney Spears ordered to parenting classes and drug, alcohol screening

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

britney-spears.jpg
Although Britney Spears has maintained joint custody of her two young sons with Kevin Federline, she is going to need to do some work if she wants it to stay that way.

The judge at the center of the custody dispute made findings that Britney has abused both drugs and alcohol. As part the custody agreement, she is going to have to submit to drug and alcohol testing, as well as attend parenting classes.

Earlier this week, a former bodyguard submitted an affidavit that revealed that he saw Britney abuse drugs and alcohol. That affidavit was not challenged.

The standard for child custody cases is what is in the best interest of the children. Certainly it would be best for the boys to have both their mother and their father in their lives. However, it is also in their best interest to have a sober mother who can properly care for them.

Hopefully the judge will keep a close eye on Britney’s progress and ensure that she is doing what is best for her children.

Kid Rock vs. Tommy Lee Boxing Match?

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

tommy-lee.jpgkid-rock-vma.jpg

According to TMZ, there is a chance that Kid Rock and Tommy Lee will take their famed feud to the boxing ring.

Jeff Beacher, of Beacher’s Madhouse in the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas, has offered a purse of $1 million if Kid Rock and Tommy Lee take their VMA beef to his club’s boxing ring. Beacher is now raising the stakes by upping the prize to a cool $1.5 mil!

No word on whether these guys would actually consider stepping in the ring, but consider their penchant for publicity would lead to me to believe that they are at least considering it.

According to TMZ soap opera star Kirsten Storms was arrested for driving under the influence over the weekend. Storms is known for her role as Belle Black on Days of Our Lives and Maxie Jones on General Hospital. She also provides her voice for a role on Disney’s Kim Possible. I am sure Disney is not too happy with her right now.

Kid Rock cited for battery after fight with Tommy Lee at VMAs

Monday, September 10th, 2007

kid-rock-vma.jpg

It sounds like what happened back stage at the MTV Video Music Awards may have been more interesting than what happened on stage (unless you call Britney Spears’ comeback disaster “interesting.”) If you watched the VMAs, which aired live, you may have been wondering what P. Diddy meant when he said that Kid Rock was supposed to be presenting with him and then made some comment about rock stars fighting.

According to TMZ, Kid Rock got into a fight with Tommy Lee backstage at the Palms Casino and Hotel. Kid Rock “slapped up” Tommy Lee and police were called. Kid Rock was cited for misdemeanor battery, but allowed to stay at the show.

Both Kid Rock and Tommy Lee were formerly married to Pamela Anderson.
