19 Year Old Singer Chris Brown Arrested - Released On Bail

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

chris-brown

19-year old Chris Brown, one of the hottest R&B singers in the world, is facing serious allegations of an assault on a female and missed his chance to perform at the 51st Grammy Awards because he was wanted by authorities. The evening of Sunday, February 8, 2009 Brown turned himself into police with the help of his celebrity lawyer. The star was arrested on one count of suspicion of making felony criminal threats and released when he posted $50,000 bail.

Police have stated that an “unidentified female” alleged that Chris Brown assaulted her shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday after a heated argument that took place in the car. Someone heard a female screaming and called 911. When the police arrived Chris Brown had already left.

Chris Brown’s girlfriend Rihanna canceled her scheduled Grammy Awards appearance and an unidentified source told the media they saw her face battered and bruised. If it isn’t obvious enough that the “unidentified female” is Rihanna, celebrity gossip site TMZ has insider information that has confirmed that Rihanna was indeed the victim of Chris Brown’s violent episode.

Police are now investigating Chris Brown on domestic violence and felony battery allegations. Rihanna has had to cancel her upcoming concert in Malaysia. Neither Rihanna or Chris Brown have made any public statements regarding the alleged assault or Grammy Awards Show cancellations. All media reports are based on witness statements and leaked insider information. Chris Brown’s huge fan base is still holding out hope that there is another side to this story and that somehow Brown will be found innocent. But right now things aren’t looking too hopeful for the young musician.

Transformers Star Loses Driver’s Licence After Car Crash

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Shia LaBeouf, presenter and star of "Transformers," winner Best

22-year-old actor Shia LaBeouf had his driver’s license suspended on January 17, 2009. On July 27, 2008 LaBeouf was involved in a car crash which injured his hand. Authorities on the scene believed that the “Disturbia” star was intoxicated. LaBeouf refused to comply with a chemical test and was arrested but did not face DUI charges due to insufficient evidence.

Now half a year later the star is losing his driver’s licence for the length of one year. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to Shia LaBeouf, whenever a driver refuses a blood alcohol test they automatically face a suspended license.

This isn’t the first time Shia LaBeouf has had a run in with the law. In 2007 he was arrested for criminal trespassing in a Walgreens store. The criminal charges were later dropped. In 2008 an arrest warrant was issued for LaBeouf when he failed to appear at a court hearing regarding a ticket for unlawful smoking. Those charges were also later dismissed and he paid a $500.00 fine.

It seems like this hot actor just can’t catch a break. I mean who could believe that he’d actually get ticketed over a smoking violation let alone almost arrested? He may be unlucky with the law but he is lucky when it comes to his career. Last year Shia LaBeouf starred in hit movies “Eagle Eye” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” and in 2009 he’s starring in his second Transformers film “Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen” and the romantic movie “New York, I Love You.”

Was Bizarre Dog Theft Sparked By “Marley and Me” Movie?

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Of course the dog in the recent “Marley and Me” movie starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson is adorable. One Orange County man definitely thought so, but unfortunately he couldn’t afford the expensive breed of dog and resorted to stealing a “Marley and Me” look-a-like from a pet store.

According to news reports 23 year-old Ryan Rickman stole the dog from Pet City three days before Christmas to give to his girlfriend as a Christmas present. Rickman was caught and now faces grand theft charges.

Once his girlfriend found out that she’d received a stolen pet she quickly paid the pet store $1,300 to keep the dog. Hopefully she’ll be calling herself Rickman’s “ex-girlfriend” in 2009.

“Marley and Me” dogs are selling like hot cakes but nothing beats the original, meet “Brownie” one of the highly trained dogs that starred in the movie:

George Michael Arrested

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Singer George Michael has been arrested in London, England after police found him in a public men’s restroom with crack and marijuana.

This is the 45-year-old’s fourth time finding himself in trouble with the law due to drug related incidents. This time he was lucky and no charges were filed. Perhaps this would be a good time for a stay in rehab?

Kanye West Arrested For Felony Vandalism

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Rapper Kanye West, 31, was arrested for felony vandalism at the airport after he grabbed a camera from a celebrity photographer and ending up smashing it on the ground. His bodyguard, Don Crowley, who was also fed up with the Paparazzi smashed a piece of camera equipment as well and then went after a TMZ videographer.

The chaotic airport event was captured on video. Which I’m sure won’t help Kanye West’s case. Both West and his bodyguard were arrested and bail was set for $20,000.

Hilary Duff’s Dad In The Slammer

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Bob Duff has been sentenced to 10 days in jail after a Texas judge found him to be in contempt.

It all started when Hilary Duff’s parents who are going through a bitter divorce disagreed on her swank birthday party planned for this September 28 when Hilary turns 21.

Susan Duff wanted her ex to pay $25,000 towards the party, the judge ended up ordering him to pay $12,500. Millionaire or not you would think that Bob Duff has the right to say no to Hilary, what a spoiled brat.

Aaron Carter arrested for marijuana possession

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

aaron-carter.jpgAaron Carter, brother to Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, and former boytoy of both Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan was arrested for possession of marijuana.

It is funny to remember when Hilary and Lindsay were fighting over Aaron.  Granted they were just young teens, but it is still amusing.  What did he really have to offer?  Blond hair and a smile?  Sort of like the popular boy in high school.  Quite a jump from him to Joel Madden for Hillary and from him to a whole slew of guys for Lindsay.

I guess the most surprising thing about this story is not that he got arrested but that it was only for pot.  Given what other young “celebrities” are into, marijuana doesn’t really seem too bad.

What is sad is that in all the stories that I read about him, he has been described as I described him above: by his relation to someone else (brother, ex-boyfriend).  He hasn’t even really done anything to make a name for himself and it is unclear what it is that he does with his time.

A quick glance at a press photo website shows that he has had recent appearances at a wrestling match, parties, fashion week, and the Kids Choice Awards.  I guess if you have one time fame you can milk that for as long as people can remember you?  Maybe young Aaron should stop going to so many parties and get a real job.  Although I suppose it is easier to be famous for being famous than be famous for being talented.  Just ask Paris Hilton.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers arrested

Monday, November 19th, 2007

jonathan-rhys-meyers.jpgActor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, known for his roles in films like Bend in Like Beckham and for his work on the Showtime series The Tudors was arrested in a Dublin airport yesterday afternoon. He was charged with public drunkenness and breach of the peace.

The police were called after he was reportedly disruptive at the British Airways ticket counter and at an airport gate. He was told several times to calm down, but when he did not, he was arrested. He was released from jail on bail and will head to court on December 5th to face charges.

I cannot really speculate on what the Irish courts will do for a charge like this, but in the United States it would most likely get dropped or he could get time served. It really is not that big of a deal, but they may treat it more harshly because it was in an airport, where there are security concerns, rather than in a pub.

Nick Hogan charged with Reckless Driving

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

nick-hogan-mugshot.jpgI reported last week that it was imminent and today charges were filed against Nick Hogan in connection with the car crash that left his friend in a coma. As I correctly predicted, he was charged with reckless driving following his arrest. Do I know my vehicle code or what? The photo was taken today when he booked and is courtesy of TMZ.

The family issued a statement, which said in part that it was unfortunate that passenger John Graziano was not wearing his seatbelt and they were grateful that Nick had his on. Some outlets, like TMZ, have interpreted that to be blaming the victim; essentially saying that it is John’s fault that he is in a coma. I am not sure that was their intent. It sounds to me like the are simply trying to warn others about the dangerous of seatbelt safety. Of course I could be wrong and it the statement could be a carefully worded plan of attack to sour the potential jury pool and get Nick an acquittal down the line.

I have a feeling, though, that this might not go to trial and Nick may plead out. The only thing that might prevent such an action is fear that an admission of culpability might be used against Nick by John’s family to get a settlement in a civil case. It is expected that John might need specialized care the rest of his life and I am sure that if I were his mother, I would want the responsible party to be paying for that care. The fact that Nick’s father has deep pockets certainly won’t hurt in that department.

Shia LaBeouf Arrested At Chicago Walgreens

Monday, November 5th, 2007

shia-labeouf.jpgRising star Shia LeBeouf was arrested yesterday for criminal trespass at a Chicago Walgreens, according to Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun-Times. Not exactly the way to go if you are trying to toughen up your image. I would suggest a bar brawl.

Shia is in town to work on the film Eagle Eye, although he is best known for his role in Transformers and his upcoming role in the new Indiana Jones movie.

I am quite familiar with the Walgreens in question. It is open 24 hours, is located on the “Magnificent Mile,” and is one of the older Walgreens in the downtown area.

No information on why Shia was in the Walgreens at approximately 2:00 a.m., but he was reportedly drunk and refused to leave, which resulted in his arrest. Maybe they had run out of whatever post-drinking snack he enjoys?

He was reportedly told by a security guard that he had to leave because he was intoxicated. After police arrived he was taken to the jail, where he was ‘”very courteous and polite” before posting bond several hours later.

He is next scheduled to appear in court at Branch 29 on November 28th. The charge he is facing is only a misdemeanor and I doubt, even if he is convicted, that he will receive any jail time. My guess is that the charges will probably be dropped when the case gets to court later this week. It really is not a big deal, he did not harm anyone, and really, what Chicago resident hasn’t been drunk in a Walgreens? He just needs to learn his inside voice.

Kurt Angle denies he was driving drunk

Monday, October 8th, 2007

kurt-angle-dui.jpgDespite being arrested last week for driving under the influence of alcohol, former Olympian and TNA wresting champion Kurt Angle denies that he did anything illegal.

According to TMZ, Angle’s attorney stated that Angle is maintaining his innocence in the incident and stated that Angle showed no signs of intoxication and the police do not have first hand knowledge that he drove the vehicle. The attorney asserted that arrest occurred because of Angle’s celebrity status.

According to 24wrestling, the police stated that another motorist reported that they saw Angle’s vehicle pull out of a bar and nearly hit their vehicle. Angle’s car then reportedly crossed the center line and almost hit a sign.

The motorist took down the plate information of the car and gave it to police, who then went to Angle’s home. Angle admitted that he had just left the local bar. Angle was reportedly then given a field sobriety test, which he failed.

It appears that no Breathalyzer test nor blood sample were completed. Angle will have to report to court on the charge, although no date has yet been set.

Angle first rose to fame in 1996 when he won the Olympic gold medal in wrestling. He competed despite having broken two of his cervical vertebrae prior to that. He has wrestled with TNA (Total Non-stop Action) since September of 2006.

This is not the first bad press Angle has received. Earlier this year he was involved in steroid allegations, which he denied. He stated that he had not received any illegal performance-enhancing drugs and all medications that he used because of his injuries were under a doctor’s care.

Kiefer Sutherland arrested for DUI

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

kiefer-sutherland-dui.jpgAccording to TMZ, actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested on suspicion of DUI in West Hollywood Monday night after attending a party thrown by Fox at Area nightclub. Sutherland reporedly had a blood alcohol level of .22.

According to CelebTV, Sutherland has four prior DUI arrests, dating back to 1988. His most recent arrest was in 2004. If convicted, Sutherland would have to serve a mandatory five days in jail. However, TMZ is also reporting that Sutherand’s 2004 conviction resulted in a sentence of five years probation. That means that this latest run-in could result in a probation violation, which could result in serious jail time.

Sutherland was pulled over after making an illegal U-turn, which proves my long-standing motto that if you are intoxicated or if you are carrying anything in your car that is illegal, obey the traffic laws.

Sutherland was released on bond and is headed to court on October 16.

Monday, September 17th, 2007

O.J. Simpson was arrested in connection with a burglary of a hotel room in Las Vegas. He will be charged with robbery, burglary, and assault in association with the incident in which he is accused of taking sports memorabilia. One of the victims, Bruce Fromong, said it was a “home invasion-type robbery.”

Simpson claims that he went to the hotel after hearing that some of his belongings were being sold there. He said that he and his acquaintances removed the items which belonged to him from the room, but that no guns were involved. The police have stated that firearms were involved in the offense.
