Michael Jackson’s Doctor Raided - The Investigation of Dr. Murray

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Raid on Michael Jacksons Doctors clinic in Houston

Michael Jackson’s doctor, cardiologist Dr. Conrad Murray hasn’t been happy with all of the negative media reports blaming him for Jackson’s sudden heart failure on June 25, 2009. Dr. Murray was hired by Michael Jackson at an astonishing rate of $150,000 a month to provide whatever medical care Jackson required.

Shortly after Jackson death it was reported that Dr. Murray was not a suspect in the Jackson case. But Jackson’s family and the media continued to demand anwers, wanting to know more about the involvement of those who were in Michael’s life at the time of his death.

It’s not only the media who think Dr. Conrad Murray might have had something to do with Michael Jackson’s death, but law enforcement is questioning a possible involvement as well. Police obtained search warrants this week so they could thoroughly investigate Dr. Murray’s Houston doctor’s clinic and storage unit.

During the raid 27 tablets of Phentermine (appetite suppressant), 1 tablet of clonazepam (anti-anxiety), Rolodex cards, and a computer were removed from Dr. Murray’s office. From his storage unit police seized hospital documents, including a suspension notice, IRS notices, and two computer hard drives.

Meanwhile the L.A. County coroner is waiting for the results of Michael Jackson’s toxicology tests which are expected to be released in as a soon as a week but could take longer.

Michael Jackson’s toxicology results will finally determine the cause of death which will help investigators to decide if any outside forces including Dr. Murray had an impact on Michael’s Jackson’s health, and finally death. If Dr. Murray’s accounts of Michael Jackson’s final days are accurate then the toxicology results could help prove his innocence, clearing his name.

Since Michael Jackson was known to have prescription drug dependency issues long before Dr. Murray arrived on the scene it will be interesting to see how this police investigation plays out.

Celebrity Court Is Back In Action

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

I’m very excited to be the new author here at Celebrity Court. I will do my best to keep you updated on the latest celebrity court cases, law suits, and other interesting legal related news! It’s been a while here since the last post and some of this season’s top celebrity stories may have been missed.

Here are a few of the stories that have made headlines around the world:

Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman went through quite an ordeal after her disturbed stalker Jack Jordan was arrested in October 2007 for aggravated harassment and assault. He was found guilty but ended up being released in early June 2008 when Judge Carro issued Jordan 3 years probation and a 5 year restraining order.

Rob Lowe with wife Sheryl

Rob Lowe with wife Sheryl

Rob Lowe and his wife Sheryl spent months in the top news headlines after they sued their former nanny Jessica Gibson in April 2008. She in turn countersued the Lowe’s claiming that the couple had been sexually inappropriate towards her during the time of her employment.

The Lowe’s claim that the nanny attempted to extort money from them. The judge dismissed several claims on both sides and soon both the Lowe’s and Gibson were claiming victory. Rob Lowe is now being sued by a second former nanny. You can read more details on the law suit and accusations here.

Nick Hogan, the son of wrestler Hulk Hogan was charged with wreckless driving involving serious bodily injury and sent to prison on May 9, 2008. The then 17 year old was sentenced to eith months in Pinellas county Jail, 5 years probation, a 3 year driver’s license suspension, and 500 hours of community service. His former best friend John Graziano was permanently injured in the car crash.

Drunk Driving Round-up

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

mischa-barton-mugshot.jpg

PHOTO FROM TMZ‘Tis the season for celebrations with friends and family.  ‘Tis also the season for drinking too much at those celebrations and getting arrested for drunk driving.  Here are the latest celebs to be arrested for driving under the influence:

Mischa Barton: arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and suspected possession of marijuana.  She was pulled over after the police witnessed her straddling two lanes of traffic and failed to use an indicator.  What is she even doing with herself these days?  Seems like she pretty much disappeared from the face of the earth after leaving The OC to do other projects.  Maybe her other project was partying?  Also gives me another opportunity to remind you: if you drunk or in possession of drugs, please do your very best to obey the traffic rules.

Danielle Fishel (best known as Topanga on Boy Meets World): arrested on a drunk driving warrant.  Although she had disappeared for awhile after the show ended, she had recently gotten work on the Tyra Banks Show, as well as with Nutrisystem.  Doesn’t she know all the calories that are in alcohol?

Rebecca De Mornay: two misdemeanor counts of DUI stemming from an October arrest. What has she done lately?  Maybe this is a trend: former actresses who are no longer getting work, hit the bottle to feel better, get arrested for drunk driving and then producers say, “Oh, I forgot about her!  I shall hire her!”  Hmm.  Maybe.  Or it could just be that celebs are like regular people in that they drink too much and think that they are okay to drive.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers arrested

Monday, November 19th, 2007

jonathan-rhys-meyers.jpgActor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, known for his roles in films like Bend in Like Beckham and for his work on the Showtime series The Tudors was arrested in a Dublin airport yesterday afternoon. He was charged with public drunkenness and breach of the peace.

The police were called after he was reportedly disruptive at the British Airways ticket counter and at an airport gate. He was told several times to calm down, but when he did not, he was arrested. He was released from jail on bail and will head to court on December 5th to face charges.

I cannot really speculate on what the Irish courts will do for a charge like this, but in the United States it would most likely get dropped or he could get time served. It really is not that big of a deal, but they may treat it more harshly because it was in an airport, where there are security concerns, rather than in a pub.
