Hip Hop Artist Coolio Arrested On Drug Related Charges

45-year-old musician Coolio whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey, Jr. was arrested yesterday, March 6, 2009 at the L.A. International Ariport. He was charged with the suspicion of possesing drug paraphernalia and illegal drugs.
Coolio has had a troubled past dating back to his early music career when he sold crack-cocaine. When he was 23 he spend time in jail for larceny. Coolio later went to rehab in attempts to turn his life around.
In 1995 Coolio’s album “Gangsta’s Paradise” became highly successful turning the hip hop artist into a household name. The “Gangsta’s Paradise” song was chosen as the theme song for the movie “Dangerous Minds” starring Michell Pfeiffer.
In January 2009 he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother UK and finished third place. Coolio was attacked recently on February 25, 2009 while performing at a University. During a stage dive the crowd let him fall to the ground and proceded to mug him until security came to the star’s rescue.
