Police Investigating Orlando Bloom Crash
Although he was not arrested at the scene, TMZ is reporting that the Los Angeles police department is investigation a car crash involving Orlando Bloom which occurred last Friday.
The accident took place in the early morning hours, around 2:00 a.m. after Bloom left a nightclub in Los Angeles, driving a vehicle with two female passengers.
Orlando crashed into a parked Porsche Cayenne and the reportedly began to leave the scene, leaving his two injured passengers behind. According to paparazzi video, Bloom initially started walking down the street until a paparazzo told him that it would be hit-and-run if he did leave the scene. He then is seen returning to where the accident occurred. (Too bad the paparazzi did not tell Britney that she should call the police after her hit-and-run.)
As the paparazzi suggested, it is apparently a hit-and-run charge that the police are potentially going to bring against Bloom. It is unclear from the video if Bloom was intoxicated, but it is difficult to think of another reason why someone would leave their crashed car, and their friends, behind.
No Breathalyzer test or field sobriety tests were given at the scene, so it is possible that he may not have exhibited outwards signs of intoxication sufficient to cause the police to perform the tests.
Bloom reportedly told police that pursuing paparazzi cut him off and caused the crash. In that case, wouldn’t he have been more angry than the video shows? Wouldn’t he have wanted to stay to help his injured friends?
The two female passengers in Bloom’s car both suffered injuries. One woman, fashion stylist Cher Coulter, suffered a fractured neck in the crash and the other woman had a minor injury from the seatbelt.
